Association for Heterodox Economics
Funded postgraduate workshop on advanced research methods
18th-19th January 2018
Leeds University Business School
There were funded places available for registered Ph.D. students to cover UK travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses for the above event. The workshop covered topics in research not typically covered in economics training. It was held for the second time at the University of Leeds, which has a continuing tradition of doing economics in open, critical ways. The workshop was open to any Ph.D. students, but UK-registered Ph.D. students have priority. Funding priority was given to UK-registered students. Students who had previously attended were not eligible for funding.
Workshop topics included:
- Reorienting economics to match method with social material
- Quantitative analysis applicable to open economic systems
- Qualitative methods
- Social network theory in Economics
- Mixing quantitative and qualitative data
- Publishing work which uses non-standard methodologies
